Utah Jazz offseason move No. 1: Re-sign Mike Conley

As mentioned earlier, the Jazz really missed Mike Conley throughout the second-round playoff series against the LA Clippers. Conley is still one of the best defenders at the point guard position in the entire league.

He is also a key playmaker for the Jazz, which takes the pressure off Mitchell. The Jazz star was being defended by Patrick Beverley in the series and without Conley, the Jazz had to adjust their offensive schemes as he is such a crucial part of their systems.

It was not always the case though. Conley looked completely out of sync with the Jazz team when he first came over via trade. This was probably a big reason the Jazz chose to back their roster this season, they trusted that Conley would improve to closer to his normal production.

As Mitchell’s rookie extension kicks in next season the Jazz are facing a second straight year in the luxury tax. It is likely that they are going to double-down on this team and try and bring the key elements back. Conley will need to take a massive pay cut but considering he just finished a $153 million deal, this is very likely.
