Utah Jazz: 5 offseason roster moves they need to make
The Utah Jazz had an incredible season finishing at the top of the NBA standings. They chose to go all-in on their team from last season, with Jordan Clarkson being one of only two major offseason signing, with the Jazz offering him a four-year, $52 million deal to stay with the franchise. They also signed Derrick Favors after a season away from the team.
Clarkson became a massive part of the success of the season, He became the first-ever Utah Jazz player to win the Sixth Man of the Year award. Clarkson certainly deserved it, averaging 18.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 0.9 steals in 26.7 minutes per game this season.
The Jazz have set themselves up as a team that can take on all-comers if all their pieces are firing on the court. They have the star power of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. They have excellent shooters in Bojan Bogdanovic and Joe Ingles and the defensive prowess of Royce O’Neale and Mike Conley.
The Utah Jazz finished the NBA season with the best record, and they then lost in the second round. Here are five roster moves they need to make.
The Jazz were sailing towards the best record in the league before Mitchell injured his ankle, missing the final 16 games of the regular season and the first playoff game. Fortunately, the Jazz had a soft schedule towards the end of the regular season but they lost a little of their identity with Mitchell out.
Then, during the second-round playoff series against the LA Clippers, they lost the services of Mike Conley for the first five of the six games. This was huge for the franchise as they missed his defense, but more importantly his experience. He came back for the last game but it always takes time to get the feel of a series.
Now, with all that in mind, let’s look at the five roster moves the Utah Jazz need to make this offseason.
