Brooklyn Nets offseason move No. 1: Re-sign Jeff Green

Jeff Green’s story is one that every NBA fan should enjoy. He has played 13 seasons in the league but his career could have been over after four seasons. Green had a heart condition that caused him to miss a full season due to heart surgery.

The fact that he was able to come back and have another nine seasons in the league is incredible. The best part of the story is that he is still able to contribute in a meaningful way. He was tremendous last season for the Nets as a role player.

He averaged 11.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 27.0 minutes per game. Due to other Nets players being injured, he even started 38 of the 68 games that he played in the season. He was a crucial member of the second-best regular-season squad in the Eastern Conference.

Green would love to have an NBA championship by the end of his career. In order to do this, he is going to need to sign on at a veteran’s minimum again. The Nets have already got $166.5 million in committed salaries and only nine players under contract. Green will most probably do this as the Nets give him the best opportunity to win it all.
