Ranking NBA Draft classes from 1995-2020: 24. 2020

For now, last year’s draft ranks this low but they have immense room for improvement. After one season, only two players look like they may in fact be future All-Stars in LeMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards. Edwards made progress as a primary scorer this season and turned into a walking highlight under Chris Finch. Ball, the Rookie of the Year, is a dynamite passer and quieted some of the concerns about his shot. If they continue to progress the way they did in their first season the sky is the limit.

Beyond them, there are plenty of role players to be optimistic about. Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart looked good for the Detroit Pistons. Tyrese Haliburton is a winning player stuck in one of the least winning situations the league has ever seen. Jae’Sean Tate, Desmond Bane, Tyrese Maxey and Immanuel Quickley all contributed to playoff teams.

The 2020 Draft was thought of as weak before the draft and seeing James Wiseman (second overall pick) struggled mightily throughout the season did nothing to quell those concerns. If he is able to rebound and someone like Killian Hayes (seventh overall) gets better after only playing 26 in his rookie year this class should rise. Only time will tell.
