Utah Jazz: 3 goals for Joe Ingles in the 2020-21 season
Goal No. 1 for Joe Ingles: Have a better start to the season
Without wanting to belabor the point, Ingles had a bad start to last season. However, it is crucial that his start to the 2020-21 season not be as bad. In the first 21 games, he averaged 7.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 0.8 steals in 27.5 minutes per game.
However, the trademark Ingles efficiency was not there. From the floor, Ingles went 52-of-143 in these games which was only good enough for 36.4 percent. From deep Ingles went 29-of-94 which is only good enough for 30.9 percent.
He only started one game in this period but Ingles improved from game 22 onwards. This is when he moved into the starting lineup and went back to feeling comfortable. Interestingly he was reinserted into the starting lineup to replace point guard Mike Conley.
This is the benefit of having Ingles in the lineup is that he can play every position except the pivot role. He creates more shot attempts for others with his passing but also spaces the floor so well with the shot. If he is not having a great start then the Jazz does not have a good flow, with the exception of Donovan Mitchell and Bogdanovic.
