6. Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls are in serious need of a culture change. After the days of a punch clock installed at practice by former coach Jim Boylen, bringing in someone to help shape the future by listening will go a long way. That being said, for a young team they are quite expensive.

Much of this is connected to the likely picking up of a player option by Otto Porter, Jr. It is certainly tough to fathom a world where he opts out of earning $28.5 million next season. Zach LaVine is the next highest-paid Bull, earning a comparatively modest $19.5 million each of the next two seasons.

The team has young talent to sell to the next coach. Coby White had a solid rookie season, showing encouraging signs as a 3-point shooter that was unexpected this quickly. Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter have shown flashes of star potential but have yet to stay healthy enough to make good on it. The former of the big man has even somewhat regressed as time has passed, averaging a career-low in points, rebounds and 3-point shooting percentage this season.

The fourth overall pick in this draft gives the team some hopes at a jump start. Adding another solid young piece to a core with potential gives whoever comes in a chance to essentially start over and build their own system. The biggest worry then will be if the new front office will finally stay out of the coach’s way.
