NBA Coaching Carousel: Ranking the available head coaching positions

5. OKC Thunder
Given the reports of a rebuild on the horizon with the Thunder puts the allure of this job in question. If a teardown is coming it will be tough to project this roster with Chris Paul, Dennis Schroeder and Steven Adams likely on the trade block and Danilo Gallinari likely on to greener pastures in free agency.
The young core in place here has shown promise. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Darius Bazley and Lu Dort all had moments in the playoffs where you could see something special. Gilgeous-Alexander did this all year. Dort popped off in the bubble and was an ill-timed James Harden block from being the hero of the first-round series for the team.
Having the stomach and the patience for dealing with a rebuild is not for everyone. Specifically in the Western Conference, plenty of teams will be vying for the playoffs, meaning the rebuild could last a while.
But they have so many future picks on the way from the LA Clippers and all of their own future picks so this could be a quick turnaround. This is a situation where the unknown of the Thunder is slightly more attractive than the known of the Bulls.
