2. Nikola Jokic will be in the MVP discussion

Nikola Jokic turned a lot of heads in 2018-19. How well did the Denver Nuggets big man play last season?

Well, he nearly averaged a triple-double, posting averages of 20.1 points, 10.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists per contest. He increased his scoring, rebounding and assist numbers for the third straight season and he posted a 51 percent conversion rate for the third time in four seasons.

Oh, and by the way, he was no slouch during the Nuggets postseason run, either. In 14 games, Jokic was nothing short of a nightmare for opposing teams, as he averaged 25.1 points, 13.0 rebounds and an astounding 8.4 assists per contest.

Not only that, but he shot 50.6 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from the land of 3. Simply put, the dude knows how to elevate his game when the stakes are high.

Based on the way he has played over the last few seasons, there is no reason to believe that another 20-10 season isn’t within in his reach and his assist numbers should continue to increase as well. If that holds true, Jokic should and will be one the top three players in terms of MVP voting because after all, his skill set at the 5 isn’t exactly commonplace throughout the league.
