Boston Celtics: 5 reasons to be excited for 2018-19 NBA season
3. Rookie Robert Williams
It’s not often that people get excited about a potential late first round pick. However, the 2018 NBA Draft was no ordinary draft. Many players that went in the late first round or early second round are drawing interest by fans.
Robert Williams falls under that category. Weeks leading up to the draft, Williams was projected to be a lottery pick. His injury history and off-court issues caused him to slide.
Williams is an interesting prospect and one that might really help the team. He’s practically a match made in heaven for the Celtics. He’s got the skill, defense, athleticism and of course attitude for the bench.
He may not play much this season, but rather, spend time developing in the G League. This may be a perfect scenario for him because there’s a limited amount of playing time. If the roster is at full strength, it’s likely that he would be at the back end of the bench.
He’s already nursing a knee injury that sidelined him already. It may be in everyone’s interest if he develops in the G League. In his two season’s at Texas A&M, he did quite well.

He’s going to be a fun player to watch if he develops. He’s drawn the comparison to DeAndre Jordan and if he can become anywhere near that kind of player, then the Celtics have found a steal at pick No. 27.
