Worst-Case Scenario

When you think about the possibilities of the Celtics season, there really aren’t too many ways things could go. It’s hard to see a scenario where Boston doesn’t make the playoffs, especially in an already weak conference.

The only possible way is if other teams come out of nowhere and the Celtics sustain too many major injuries to stay afloat.

  • Legitimately, the Celtics do make the playoffs and the worst-case scenario for the team is that they end up getting bounced in the first round. It was a real possibility last season when they had to go up against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Again, for this to happen, there would likely have to be a major injury, whether that be to one of the star players Kyrie Irving, Hayward, Tatum, Brown and Al Horford — pretty much anyone in that starting lineup.

The protection of the Celtics’ future  is vital if they want to continue to succeed for years to come. A lot of people have already pegged Boston to be the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. Rightfully so; they do look like they have the pieces to come out on top when it’s all said in done.

However, last season was not a good year in terms of injuries. For one, Hayward was brutally injured during the season opener and Irving didn’t play after March 11.

Not one player registered 82 games during the regular season. Aron Baynes appeared in 81 games and Tatum and Terry Rozier played in 80.

Still, not something you want to see from a team that looks to be one of the top NBA teams this season. Regardless, the Celtics worst-case scenario this season is to see more injuries pile up and possibly derail how far they go.
