Worst-case scenario

Let’s get all of the negativity out of the way first. When talking about any team’s newest young talent, we all want to think they’re going to be the next big thing or even someone that can help push the team to the next level.

Boston can go as far as its young talent can take them. Sure, Gordon Hayward, Kyrie Irving and Al Horford can take the team far, but it’s up to Jayson Tatum and company to bring them to that next level.

Now throw in Williams and the Celtics look like a team that will be hard to stop for years to come. However, things could go south this season for the rookie. The worst-case scenario for him revolves around two things that have already been cause for some concern.

Williams has had an issue with showing up to team events on time. Like it was stated before, he has missed his introductory press conference and the first Summer League practice. That’s not the right note to start off on.

Luckily, those issues may start clearing up real soon. It looks like he’s already starting to realize that this is becoming a problem.

Williams has had an injury history in the past as well, and it’s already becoming something to keep an eye on.

Last season, the Celtics had their fair share of injuries and adding a promising rookie to that list for the upcoming campaign would be devastating, especially if it lingers and doesn’t heal as expected.

The worst-case scenario is that Williams continues to have off-court and lingering injury issues that could stunt his development.
