Boston Celtics rookie Robert Williams has all the potential in the world, but also all the potential to become a bust. Here’s a look at the best- and worst-case scenarios for the rookie.
Robert Williams is an interesting player to study. He was pegged to go early in the 2018 NBA Draft, as high as the lottery. Surprisingly, the talented big man fell all the way into the Boston Celtics‘ hands at No. 27.
It’s only fitting that the Celtics were able to come out of another draft as one of the top winners. That is, of course, if Williams shows them that he should’ve been taken in the lottery. Some off-the-court issues and injuries caused him to fall.
Of course, he’s already had a reputation off the court since being drafted. The rookie has already missed a flight out to Boston for his introductory press conference and the team’s first Summer League practice. Not the best note to start on if you’re Williams.
The Celtics rookis spent two seasons at Texas A&M and did quite well.

Williams’ career could go either way and it’s up to him to show the NBA that he’s here to stay. He’s very talented, but does not have the shooting touch like other bigs have possessed entering the league in recent years. What he does have is incredible athleticism, and that’s enough to make him dangerous. With that being said, here’s a look at the best-case, worst-case scenario for the former Aggie.
