With the additions of Trae Young and Jeremy Lin, Dennis Schroder’s time with the Atlanta Hawks seems to be winding down. Here are three potential trades.

The Atlanta Hawks need to make a decision regarding point guard Dennis Schroder. Thanks to the contract extension he signed in 2016, Schroder will make $46.5 million over the next three seasons, pointing to a longer future with the club. However, the club’s offseason decisions indicate otherwise.

Atlanta took former Oklahoma point guard Trae Young after swapping picks with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2018 NBA Draft and recently picked up Jeremy Lin via a trade with the Brooklyn Nets, seemingly preparing for life without the German point man. So what will the Hawks do with him?

Depending on the source, the team is either committed to keeping Schroder and playing him alongside Young or trading him elsewhere. I think both rumors hold a bit of truth.

With Young and Lin under contract, having Schroder around doesn’t make much sense, so trading him seems like the logical move. On the other hand, the Hawks have struggled to find interested parties due to his legal troubles and his salary, meaning the Hawks are stuck with him.

I don’t think many teams are going to jump at the chance to bring in a point guard making $15.5 million per season with middling production and a pending battery charge. But some teams will have interest if the Hawks are looking to deal him. These ones make the most sense.
