Dropping down a couple picks to draft Trae Young is considered a puzzling move by some. Should Atlanta Hawks fans be excited about this pick?

The Atlanta Hawks had problems scoring last year. They put up 103.4 points per game, the fifth-worst mark in the NBA in 2017-18. They also had attendance problems, ranking dead-last in attendance in the NBA.

Both problems may have been solved with one pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, even if they did trade away Luka Doncic, the third overall pick, to the Dallas Mavericks for the right to select guard Trae Young at No. 5.

Trae Young may not have been a top option for a team picking in the top-five, but he’s a proven scorer from Oklahoma and already has some Atlanta celebrities ready to come watch him play.

Trae Young checks off a lot of boxes for many teams at the point guard position. He can score with the best and rack up the assists at the same time. He has speed and knows how to finish. He is already drawing comparisons to some of the best point guards in the game right now.

So is Trae Young truly a good fit for the Atlanta Hawks? Here are five reasons that say he sure is.
