Boston Celtics: 5 goals for the 2018 offseason
5. Don’t do too much
This shouldn’t be hard to accomplish, because as long as they don’t try and overdo anything, the Celtics will be fine. They almost went to the NBA Finals and even had the No.1 seed for a good portion of the regular season.
They did that with all the injuries they saw this season. If they can make it to the Eastern Conference Finals without Irving and Hayward, then they did something right. Next year looks to be even better, provided they all stay healthy.

A healthy Hayward and Irving proves to make the Celtics East favorites – pending what LeBron James does in free agency or some of the rival teams like the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers.
Of course, you should at least make a push for James because he’s arguably the best to play the game. You’d be foolish to not at least pitch some sort of tent to the King. If you’re not able to cash in on the long shot odds of the James sweepstakes, however, then just stay put and keep things the way they are.
There’s no need to go make desperation pushes when the majority of your roster is either in its prime or entering it in a few years. By that time, the hope is that the Golden State Warriors have faltered.
For now, just keep simple and the Celtics should have another great season ahead of them.
