5 takeaways from the Indiana Pacers sweeping the Warriors
5. Literally everyone slept on the Pacers
Not only did the Pacers not get any attention leading into the season, but the NBA was so down on them that they were slated for just one nationally televised game this season, which came in December against Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis’ former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Clearly, the Paul George narrative drove this move, and while George has been great this year, he probably would like his chances of making the Finals with the Pacers’ current position just the same as his chances in OKC currently (and possibly less, as he is looking at two historic teams in the Houston Rockets and the Warriors as major hurdles).
The lack of attention the Pacers got from the nation and from the league is all the motivation they need to keep playing the way that they have. Sadly, the only teams that were scheduled for less nationally televised games than the Pacers are the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, and Orlando Magic.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns were scheduled for four games each, the Dallas Mavericks got six and the New York Knicks got eight. Oladipo may be a great singer as a side venture, but silently proving everyone wrong seems to be his forte.
