NBA Playoffs 2013: Indiana Pacers Adjust, Push New York Knicks to Brink

The Indiana Pacers took a commanding 3-1 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the New York Knicks in the NBA playoffs on Tuesday, May 14, beating the Knicks 93-82 in Game 4. Indiana won both Games 3 and 4 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis by 11 points and were able to take Game 4 because they made the necessary adjustments to the Knicks’ change in defensive strategy. In Game 3, Pacers center Roy Hibbert absolutely eviscerated New York in the low post, scoring 24 points and gathering 12 rebounds—eight on the...

New York Knicks: Should Horrible Shooting Land J.R. Smith On The Bench?

In the second half of the season, New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith went on a run for the ages. After years of being one of the most inconsistent shooters in the league, Smith went on a tear and it felt like every shot he attempted after the All-Star break went in. The Knicks thrived off of Smith’s excellent play, securing the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Smith’s lights-out shooting earned him the Sixth Man of The Year award, as he beat out the stiff competition of Jarrett Jack and Jamal Crawford. But while...

New York Knicks: Will Amar’e Stoudemire Ever Regain All-Star Form?

It’s amazing how far a rising NBA superstar can fall in just a few short years. We’ve seen it many times before. Whether it was because of injury (Grant Hill, Anfernee Hardaway), a lack of playoff success (Chris Webber, Vince Carter) or a combination of the two (Tracy McGrady), we’ve seen a number of promising players fall short of truly becoming prominent presences in a star-driven league. True, guys like Grant Hill and maybe even Tracy McGrady have a shot of making the Hall of Fame one day simply because of the impact they...

NBA Playoffs 2013: What We’ve Learned So Far In Round Two

We’re roughly halfway through the second round of the 2013 NBA playoffs and we’ve already learned so much about all eight teams contending for an NBA title. The physical series between the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls encompasses everything that playoff basketball is about and ultimately reminds NBA fans of how basketball used to be played. But that’s just one series. What else have we learned from Round 2? Let’s take a gander. K.D. Can’t Do It All Himself Kevin Durant did enough to get the Oklahoma City...

New York Knicks: What Does Amar’e Stoudemire’s Return for Game 3 Mean?

New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire will be available for limited duty in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, May 11. Stoudemire hasn’t played since March 7 after undergoing a debridement procedure on his right knee, which means he had dead and damaged tissue removed from his troublesome knee. When he did play this season—which wasn’t often, Stoudemire averaged 14.2 points and five rebounds in 23.5 minutes a game. He made just 29 appearances, missing the first 30 games after having...

NBA Playoffs 2013: Fact or Fiction With Second Round Game 1 Losers

The second round of the 2013 NBA Playoffs has begun for all eight teams and it hasn’t exactly gone smoothly for the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors. Each team feels like they’ve been punched in the stomach, with all of them having legitimate chances to win their opening game. Let’s play some fact or fiction with the teams who have fallen behind in the second round. Fact or Fiction: The New York Knicks should be extremely worried about their lack of rebounding against the Indiana...

NBA Playoffs 2013: New York Knicks vs. Indiana Pacers Preview

The New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers both survived a scare in the opening round of the NBA playoffs. The Boston Celtics were left for dead before staging a big comeback and the Atlanta Hawks showed life at home before regressing back to the same old Hawks. In this Eastern Conference semifinal matchup, the Knicks and Pacers renew an old rivalry. Back in the 1990s, this was a hotly contested feud, with physical play and legitimate bad blood taking center stage. This year’s version won’t have as much of either. Likely Starting...

NBA Playoffs 2013: Knicks vs. Celtics Recap

It took a little longer than expected, but the third time was the charm for the New York Knicks, who eliminated the Boston Celtics from the NBA playoffs with an 88-80 win in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference first-round series on Friday, May 3. The Knicks had lost their first two attempts to close out the series after taking a 3-0 lead. It wasn’t without some moments of terror for Knicks’ fans, however. New York blew most of a 26-point lead in the fourth quarter, but survived when Carmelo Anthony hit two big baskets down the stretch—a pullup...

New York Knicks: Why Carmelo Anthony Must Facilitate More to Win

Carmelo Anthony is the leading scorer for the New York Knicks, to no one’s surprise. This year’s scoring champion still has extraordinary momentum, as he leads the team with 33 points a game in the playoffs. However, his scoring prowess won’t last. Carmelo Anthony must facilitate more to win. In other words, Carmelo Anthony needs to pass the ball more to his teammates. Anthony had two assists in the first three games of the Knicks’ series with the Boston Celtics. Granted, his scoring streak worked out at that point. Game 4 was a different...
