4. Finish with more assists than turnovers

It’s not often that “finish with more assists than turnovers” is an optimistic goal, but Chriss really is not much of a passer or ball-handler. If he’s getting the ball, more often than not, it’s going up. That’s a great mentality for a young big to have, but it’s also indicative of his lack of playmaking or court vision at this stage.

This problem extends beyond the eye test, however, as Chriss finished with just 60 assists in his 1,743 minutes over 82 games…compared to 108 turnovers. That gave him an assist-to-turnover ratio of 0.56, which ranked 442nd out of 486 eligible players.

BetweenEric Bledsoe, Devin Booker, Tyler Ulis, Josh Jackson and Dragan Bender, the Suns don’t need Chriss to be some sort of Draymond Green playmaker at the 4. However, if he could slightly increase his assists from last year’s paltry 0.7 per game and at least keep his 1.3 turnovers consistent, they’ll be in a good place moving forward.

As such, making up that 48-point gap between assists and turnovers is an ambitious but helpful goal for Chriss’ development.
