Heading into a potential breakout year with the Phoenix Suns, here are five realistic goals for Devin Booker to set his sights on in 2017-18.

The long-term outlook for the Phoenix Suns depends on a great number of factors: The development of Josh Jackson, one of Dragan Bender or Marquese Chriss panning out, securing a top five draft pick in 2018, how long the Golden State Warriors’ reign lasts…the list goes on and on.

However, at the crux of the issue is the ceiling of the new face of the franchise, Devin Booker. When he was drafted No. 13 overall in 2015, the teenage guard out of Kentucky was little more than a sharpshooting sixth man for one of the winningest teams in Wildcats history.

He was projected to bring 3-point shooting and a surprising amount of maturity for his age, but little else. Two seasons in, the future looks very bright for Booker as the franchise’s next bonafide superstar — on the offensive end, at least.

Though his efficiency has left something to be desired, the Suns’ lack of talent shares as much blame in Booker’s paltry shooting percentages, as does his age. Book won’t turn 21 until a few games into the upcoming 2017-18, and after watching him average 22.1 points, 3.4 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game last year, there’s nowhere to go but up.

The Suns are expected to compete for little more than another top pick in the draft lottery, but as Devin Booker heads into a potential breakout year, what realistic goals should he be aiming for?
