Milwaukee Bucks C Greg Monroe

Player Option

I know a lot of folks will be skeptical about this one, but hear me out.

At one point in time, many considered Greg Monroe one of the NBA’s best centers. And then, he landed with the Milwaukee Bucks and his stock took a nosedive. He spent quite a bit of time coming off the bench a year ago, and could do the same in 2016-17 — if he even stays in Wisconsin.

For some time now, rumors have swirled that the Bucks were shopping the big man. Monroe sat squarely on the trade block throughout the offseason, and the Milwaukee front office is likely eager to pull the trigger on a deal before the trade deadline.

With Tim Duncan enjoying retirement, Gasol getting up there in age and Aldridge a better fit at power forward, the Spurs will need some help at center moving forward. It’s not like Dewayne Dedmon is a long-term solution at the 5-spot.

Monroe desperately needs a change of scenery, and San Antonio would be a huge contrast to Milwaukee. Under the watchful eye of Gregg Popovich, the former lottery pick could finally find his ceiling.
