5. Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are in clear rebuilding mode but are showing promise for the future. We saw that this offseason when they were able to sign the likes of Tyler Johnson and Allen Crabbe to offer sheets.

Although the respective teams for both players matched the offer, it is a good sign for Nets fans to see that the front office is trying to take an aggressive approach to this rebuild. It will be a completely different roster on the floor for Brooklyn this year.

Brook Lopez and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson seem to be the two best players on the team and right now, Brooklyn could have the worst roster in the league. Adding Okafor wouldn’t hurt.

By trading Thad Young, the Nets now have an opening at the PF/C spot. Lopez will certainly take the five spot, leaving an opening for Okafor at the 4, who can certainly play at that position.

There wouldn’t be much speed on the court but the Nets big man would have a great contrast of strengths. Lopez can shoot from the outside and hit shots from mid-range and Okafor can play in the post.

In terms of trade, the Nets would certainly have to give up a young player. All of their 1st round picks in the next two years are in the hands of the Celtics, who are still cashing in from the Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce deal.

The Nets would likely have to send back a guy like Caris LeVert, Hollis-Jefferson, or maybe both. In terms of picks, the Nets don’t have much but they have something in terms of young guards and wings that could intrigue the Sixers.
