The Heat probably represent the sexiest situation. Financially, this one would be a nightmare to sort out since LeBron, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh would all have to take significantly less money in order to make room for Melo…who would also have to take significantly less money. And even with all four of these stars being underpaid, the Heat would barely have any cap room left over to sign the kind of quality role players and bench contributors a championship team needs.

However, turning the Big Three into a Big Four would probably make up for a bench full of Kwame Browns. Adding Melo would take a ton of pressure off of Wade and his ailing knees, not only in terms of minutes, but also in terms of responsibility as the team’s second leading scorer. Can you imagine trying to guard a team that could spread the floor with Bosh at the 5 and Melo at the 4?

However, the money does make things complicated and there’s no guarantee the Big Three will even be together next season, let alone a Big Four. But most importantly, here’s something Anthony would have to think about: By taking the easy road and teaming up with the Heatles, he could win a championship, sure. But if they won it, the Heat would still be LeBron and Wade’s team. And if they didn’t win, he’d never live it down. Just saying, Melo.
