For the Memphis Grizzlies, it’s “as you were” heading into the postseason. Their franchise is built around two players in Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol who have been with the team quite a while and experienced some playoff battles together. The conference finals is as far as this current era of Grizzlies basketball has gotten, and getting as far again this season may prove tricky.
Nonetheless they have many things in their favor, most notably continuity, being arguably the most physically imposing team in the league, and as strong an identity as their comes in the NBA. They have their All-Star in Gasol, a guy who is playing the best ball of his career.
There are some sneaky good bench players here as well, and in Tony Allen, the emotional leader playoff teams need. Another bruising run at the Western throne is on the cards if this team plays to it’s full capabilities.
