It’s been a pretty great NBA season to date. For the Atlanta Hawks however, it’s been about as close to perfect as possible. The best part? Few, if any, saw it coming. From a rocky beginning to the season with the Danny Ferry scandal, the team went out and let their game do all the talking.

From perfect months and the entire starting five being named Eastern Conference Player(s) of the Month to having four members of their team (sorry, DeMarre Carroll) make the All-Star Game, already it’s been a season to remember.

It doesn’t have to end anytime soon though. Despite the Cleveland Cavaliers return to relevance and the replenished Chicago Bulls (With or without Derrick Rose), it is Atlanta that represents arguably the best threat out of the East. Head coach Mike Budenholzer deserves a huge amount of credit for this. Headed into the playoffs, there’s a 2004 Detroit Pistons feel off this team, and they look like they’ll be making quite a run.
