Dubs-Warriors trade

NBA Trades: Potential Warriors blockbuster sees them land Kawhi Leonard.

The basic trade framework would see the Warriors ship Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga to the Clippers for Kawhi Leonard. To make the deal legal, the Warriors would also have to throw in Gary Payton II, and Moses Moody.

Meanwhile, the Clippers would also attach Cam Christie. With both Golden State and Los Angeles being first apron teams, there are several trade restrictions that would have to be accounted for but the proposed deal works and would give both rosters a facelift.

Although Leonard's health is very much a question mark, when healthy, he is still among the best players in the NBA on both ends of the court. Pairing him with superstar Steph Curry might prove to be a winning combination.

For the Clippers, moving on from Leonard now might give them the maximum return for their best player instead of him risking further damage to his value by missing more games. They gave up a total of seven first-round picks, a pick swap, and a then-future MVP candidate in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to get and build around Leonard.

By comparison, that makes this deal seem underwhelming from their perspective. However, it might be they can do it. Next, we'll see if the Clippers would agree to the potential trade.
