Can the Sacramento Kings’ historic offense carry them to the NBA Finals?

Are there any Sacramento weaknesses?

It is pretty easy and obvious how to point out Sacramento’s fragility. That is the defensive side of the ball. Throughout this mystical season for the Kings, there has not been anything glaring in awe of their defensive capabilities. In fact, it is the complete opposite. All experts in the game acknowledge how crucial that aspect is.

"“That defense is the last thing to mold into form,” Chiney Ogwumike said on ESPN’s NBA Today. “That is the icing on the cake for a championship team.”"

Through the longevity of a season, when contenders go on a tear, stand out, and do their thing, whether an unusual one or not, they are all similar when it comes to the eye test. We determine and monitor if a team is realistic or not with the same primary question. They have the shot creation, but here it is: Can they guard and get stops?

The Kings are on track to be ranked in the bottom five in defensive rating for the entire season. A positive side to that would be the previously mentioned length and athleticism, along with their ability to rebound given the activity Sabonis could provide. Of course, this being Sacramento’s learning curve in its first contending season, which is an eternity beyond what anyone entering imagined,

Brown has the experience in preparation and being able to make adjustments and execute on the fly with the elite teams that he has previously led. They can clearly outscore anyone on almost any given night, with them having one of the most lovable home courts in the league. Kings’ fanatics, along with the beam and all the hype they have going on, are one of the NBA’s best crowds right now, along with Sacramento’s tale itself. Finishing with the No. 2 seed, you never know where they could finish, having the home advantage for multiple rounds.

Even if they are not ready for Finals contention, getting their feet wet this year will certainly boost and humble the Kings all summer. Brown’s squad will be hungry to break down the next barrier of the task. The will to win will absolutely help them grow on defense, and not for nothing, this will now be a player’s destination moving forward.
