5 dream targets for New York Knicks in 2022 NBA free agency: Zach LaVine

Again, the New York Knicks don’t project to have a ton of cap space this summer, but we’re talking about dream free agents here. And if the Knicks can dream, they might as well dream big.

Zach LaVine is a two-time All-Star who is currently helping lead the Chicago Bulls to a top seed in the Eastern Conference alongside DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic.

The 26-year-old guard is an explosive finisher and extremely efficient shooter who is an absolute bucket. He may not be the best defender, but he’s perfectly capable of carrying an offense if asked.

This season, LaVine is averaging 24.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists this season while shooting 48.0 percent from the field and 40.1 percent from behind the three-point line.

For the first time in his career, LaVine should be seriously asking for max money. But on the off-chance that the Bulls decide they don’t want to pay him that much, New York should definitely try to open up the cap space to do so.

Pairing LaVine alongside RJ Barrett could create one of the more interesting wing combinations in the NBA, and a young one at that. LaVine is projected to be one of the top free agents on the market, so the Knicks should certainly be interested.
