The Domantas Sabonis effect is working wonders for the Kings: The man himself

And then there’s the guy everyone has their eyes on – Domantas Sabonis. He was the best player involved in the deal, and while Tyrese Haliburton showed out in his Indiana Pacers debut, Sabonis has been stupendous for Sacramento.

This take has been floating around on Twitter, but the Kings are using Sabonis in a Nikola Jokic role – and it is working absolute wonders for them on the offensive end.

He gets the ball in the post and runs the offense from there. Everyone else on the floor is benefitting from Sabonis’ greatness, whether it be his passing or scoring.

Through his first two games as a King, Sabonis is averaging 19.0 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists while shooting 60.7 percent from the field.

It might sound cliche, but he is quite literally making his teammates better just by being out there and playing his game. And the results are right in front of our faces.

Harrison Barnes is the prime example of this. Barnes has scored 21 and 30 points in Sactown’s last two games, respectively, and a large part of that is simply waiting for Sabonis and other to get him the rock.

Plus, having a dominant big man roaming the paint opens up a lot of opportunities for De’Aaron Fox to succeed. Whether it’s hand-offs, cuts, or otherwise, those two feed off of each other.

Sabonis is the best player the Kings have had on their roster since prime DeMarcus Cousins. Add in the rest of their moves, and Sacramento’s trade deadline looks like a raving success.
