NBA Trades: 3 potential Dennis Schroder trades for the Celtics – Chicago Bulls

When news broke this week that the Celtics had received interest for their backup guard, I was honestly surprised to see the Bulls included on the list of teams who have made offers.

After further consideration, however, I started to see the appeal. The Bulls’ offense has been as advertised when healthy this season. Demar Derozan has been playing at an All-NBA level, and the other stars such as Zach Lavine have been excellent as well.

The only caveat is that all the players who make up this elite offense have rarely been able to stay on the court together. Injuries and health and safety protocols have ravaged the Bulls, and we haven’t gotten to see them at full strength in weeks. Adding Schroder at a relatively low price would give them insurance if one of their stars were to go down near playoff time.

Even without injuries, adding Schroder could help strengthen the Bull’s second unit, and he could provide the consistent scoring presence off the bench that Coby White has at times failed to deliver.

Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso have proved to be extremely versatile this season for Chicago, so imagining them playing next to Schroder isn’t difficult.

The Celtics get Troy Brown Jr, a young wing who has shown some potential on both sides of the floor, and a future first-round pick. Whether or not the Celtics will be able to get a first-rounder in return for Schroder is yet to be seen, but I feel wouldn’t be shocking after seeing the recent return Indiana got for Caris Levert.
