Why the Chicago Bulls will bounce back from recent skid: Getting healthy

When Zach LaVine went down with a knee injury earlier this month, the entire City of Chicago held their collective breaths. Luckily for the team, doctors were able to rule that there was no structural damage. LaVine has since returned and even looked like his old self in a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

However, that incident is evidence of how quickly fate can change in the NBA. Every team in the league is one injury away from disaster. Fortunately for Chicago, their Big Three of LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vučević have been relatively healthy this season.

Although all three have missed games due to health and safety protocols, they appear to be in tip-top shape as the All-Star break approaches.

The injury report isn’t without its downside, however. Lonzo Ball recently decided to undergo knee surgery and is expected to miss the next six to eight weeks. Alex Caruso was on the wrong end of a flagrant foul and suffered a broken wrist as a result. His injury could cost him the next two months of action as well.

The silver lining to the dark cloud of these incidents is that both players will be back in the lineup before the start of the playoffs. They’ll have just enough time to get some game action under their belt and work on their conditioning.

This team has already shown they are built for the playoffs. Making sure everyone gets there healthy must be a priority going forward.
