NBA Trades Pacific Division: LA Clippers – Justin Holiday
The LA Clippers find themselves in a difficult position leading up to the trade deadline. As both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George remain sidelined with no timetable to return, their contending window for this season has been jeopardized.
Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer recently noted that execs believe the Clippers could be sellers rather than buyers at the deadline in order to regroup for next season. If they are looking to shed players like Eric Bledsoe or Serge Ibaka, one player that could be interesting in return is Justin Holiday of the Indiana Pacers.
Holiday has carved out a role with the Pacers mostly due to his offense, providing a spark off the bench or in the starting lineup by averaging 9.7 points while shooting 38.6 percent from three in his three seasons there.
In addition to his scoring prowess, the 6-foot-6 forward is a versatile defender that can match up with opposing wings nightly. With both of LA’s top wing defenders currently sidelined, a piece like Holiday could help fill the void momentarily.
To acquire Holiday, the Clippers would have to absorb what remains of his affordable $6 million salary for this season. Also under contract for next season, the forward would be a solid addition to the bench when they are back to competing at the highest level. With the Pacers rumored to be looking to rebuild, the Clippers could swoop in and snatch Holiday.
