NBA Trades Pacific Division: Phoenix Suns – Thaddeus Young

After falling short in last year’s NBA Finals, mainly due to their lack of size, the Phoenix Suns spared no expense in bulking up the frontcourt this season. In addition to having players like Deandre Ayton, Frank Kaminsky, and Jalen Smith, the front office brought in two household veterans in JaVale McGee and Bismack Biyombo for good measure.

Despite the abundance of talent they currently have, Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reported earlier this season that the Suns have rumored interest in acquiring Thaddeus Young.

Adding Young to this Phoenix bench would be a tremendous boost. Standing at 6-foot-8, Young can guard multiple positions at a high level, which would certainly come in handy down the line if the Suns face off against players like LeBron James or even Giannis Antetokounmpo once again.

Offensively, the 14-year NBA veteran has averaged a respectable 12.9 points per game during his career, meaning he would bring some scoring to the table as well. The Suns already have the best record in the NBA, but trading for Young could make them even more imposing.

Making $14.2 million this season, acquiring Young would force the Suns to jump through some hurdles financially, but it is very possible. It seems like the San Antonio Spurs would be willing to deal him, considering the veteran is playing a career-low 14 minutes per game this year and is set to hit free agency once the season concludes. The Spurs should look to get something out of him before the deadline, and the Suns are a likely suitor.
