Atlantic Division NBA Trades: Boston Celtics – Bryn Forbes

The Boston Celtics are a team that has all the pieces to be great but continues struggling to put them all together. Sitting at 10th place in the Eastern Conference, this team desperately needs to make a move at the deadline to keep their playoff hopes alive.

While it would not move the needle, trading for Bryn Forbes would be a step in the right direction to patch one of Boston’s significant flaws – their three-point shooting.

Boston is shooting a subpar 33.9 percent from behind the arc this season, the 22nd-worst mark in the association. Considering they rank 13th in three-point attempts per contest, these shooting woes have been a massive hindrance to their success.

Someone like Forbes, who has made a nice living by being an outstanding shooter, would help. The fifth-year sharpshooter has hit a scorching hot 41.2 percent of his career triples on 4.2 attempts per game. Primarily serving as a catch and shoot threat, Forbes would fit perfectly alongside Boston’s stars offensively.

After winning a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks last season, Forbes returned to the place he started his career – the San Antonio Spurs. The guard is currently playing 16.9 minutes per game with the Spurs, the second-lowest of his career behind his rookie season.

Though nothing has yet been reported, the Spurs could be willing to move him for the right price, given his minimal role on the team. Considering Forbes is on the books for $4.5 million this season, he is an affordable trade candidate for several teams.

Franchises like the Celtics looking for outside shooting would be wise to try and land the guard before the deadline.
