NBA Trades: 1 trade target for every NBA Atlantic Division team
By Dalton Sell
With the deadline just under a month away, NBA trades are destined to start happening as teams across the association begin making moves. One division that has been noisy in the rumor mill is the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division, as several teams could be gearing up to make trades.
With that said, let us take a look at one target that could be worth pursuing for all five franchises in that division.
Atlantic Division NBA Trades: Toronto Raptors – Christian Wood
After going through a rough patch to start the season, the Toronto Raptors have turned things around quickly and now sit at eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
The Raptors do have the pieces in place to be a postseason team as is, but if they want to bolster their chances, they could consider swinging a trade for a potential All-Star in Christian Wood.
The 26-year-old has blossomed into a star since signing with the Houston Rockets, averaging an impressive 19.1 points, 9.8 boards, 1.9 assists, and one block in 81 total games.
Wood has been shrouded in trade controversy over the past several months, and if the big man is indeed on the market, opposing teams will be calling. Production like his could be a massive needle-mover for multiple organizations seeking frontcourt depth, particularly one such as the Raptors.
Adding Wood while presumably keeping Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam would form a lethal trio in Toronto that could cement their status as a playoff team in the East. Wood’s contract is a huge bargain at $13.7 million this season and $14.3 million next year, so it is reasonable financially.
Though the Raptors would have to make an incredibly compelling offer to the Rockets to get the prized big man, they have the assets to do just that, and this is a move they should consider.
