NBA: Most likely first time All-Stars from each team
NBA: Most likely first time All-Stars from each team: Miami Heat – Tyler Herro
There’s no other way to put this. Tyler Herro was pretty disappointing last season.
By all accounts, the sweet-shooting guard’s numbers were up all across the board. Herro went from averaging 13.5 points per game in the regular season to 15.1, 4.1 rebounds to 5.0, and 2.2 assists to 3.4. So, can we really say that Herro was a disappointment? Yes, we can.
Herro made waves in the regular season last year but he truly built his name in the postseason. In only his first season under the bright lights, Herro averaged 16 points per game, 5.1 rebounds, and splashed 37.5% of his 3-point attempts. Fast forward one year later, and Herro was essentially a shell of his former self.
He became a vagarious player in the postseason. His ability to score plummeted to just 9.3 points a night. He also was a reluctant rebounder, averaging only 3.3 per contest. Even his 3-point shot betrayed him as it fell to 31.6%.
Regardless of those numbers, year three should be his breakout. The Miami Heat have a ton of capable players on offense including Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Also, with Goran Dragic out of the mix, Herro should see his numbers go up. The addition of All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry should help immensely as well.
All of the additions the Heat have made, paired with the subtractions that will open up things for Herro, should lead to his first All-Star selection.
