Predicting the stat leaders for the Brooklyn Nets in 2020-21

The Brooklyn Nets have three of the best players in the entire NBA. Thanks to James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant, we won’t need to do a ton of digging when it comes to predicting who will lead this ball club in points, rebounds, and assists.

Nets assists per game leader: James Harden

Once Irving forfeited point guard duties in favor of Harden, it was both the right decision for the team as a whole but it also gives us an obvious choice in terms of who will lead the Nets in assists per game. Not only is Harden the best passer on the squad but he’s one of the best in the entire NBA. In 36 games, Harden averaged 10.9 assists per game over in Brooklyn. Even more impressive, Harden ranks 42nd all-time with 5,730 assists for his career.

Nets points per game leader: Kevin Durant

Irving, while a solid passer, has never averaged more than 6.9 in a given season. Simply put, he isn’t much of a distributor but he’s one helluva scorer. Still, while he was tied with Durant with a team-leading 26.9 points per game last season, Durant dealt with several COVID-19 related issues. Provided he’s healthy, he should lead the Nets in scoring.

Nets rebounds per game leader: Kevin Durant

As for who will lead them in rebounding, the Nets have essentially shipped out all of their big men. DeAndre Jordan is no longer there and Jarrett Allen is long gone as well. So, without much size to choose from, we believe Durant will lead them in rebounding. The multiple-time All-Star has several seasons in which he collected over eight rebounds a night. If he can do that again this season, that should be more than enough for a team who will be lacking in size in most matchups.
