The Phoenix Suns could target Kelly Olynyk in 2021 NBA Free Agency

While this option might seem like the most far-fetched, landing Kelly Olynyk in free agency would be a dream scenario for the Suns.

Starting the year off with the Miami Heat, he would be traded to the Houston Rockets in a package centered around Victor Oladipo, where the big man would break out and have a stellar close to the year. Averaging 19 points while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor and 39.2 percent from behind the arc while hauling in 8.4 rebounds and handing out 4.1 assists across 27 games, he unquestionably turned some heads.

Set to hit unrestricted free agency, the Rockets hold his Bird rights, but if they choose to let the veteran walk, the Suns should make a pitch. He will be a hot commodity on the market for teams like Phoenix looking to improve their depth in the frontcourt, bolstering any team’s second unit production.

Olynyk would immediately give the Suns another piece to the puzzle as they look to make more noise in the Western Conference, providing a sizeable presence that can shoot, rebound, and facilitate. He has been a quality veteran on several teams, and his leadership would certainly help the Suns moving forward as they look to make another run at a title appearance.

Of course, money will be the biggest issue in any deal for Olynyk as his market remains unknown, but the Suns should keep an eye on the situation.

The Suns face a very tall order this offseason trying to add more talent in the frontcourt to compensate for Dario Saric’s devastating injury, but they should be able to find a serviceable piece.
