The Phoenix Suns could target Daniel Theis in 2021 NBA Free Agency

Next up on the list of potential targets for the Suns is Daniel Theis, who had a solid year despite switching teams at the midway point in the season.

Splitting the year between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls, Theis would average a new career-high of 9.6 points while shooting 54.1 percent from the floor. While his 3-point shooting was often hot or cold, Theis showed that he could be a serviceable scoring big man mostly down in the restricted area, but he also did some damage in the mid-range. He would do more than just score the basketball by hauling in 5.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while also providing solid defense at the center position.

With NBC Sports Chicago beat writer K.C. Johnson reporting that Theis is expected to garner interest from around the league, there will be many teams looking to pry him away from the Bulls. He could bolster any team’s frontcourt rotation while giving them some solid two-way play, which is exactly why Phoenix should be among the top teams making a push to go after him.

Theis would hypothetically be Phoenix’s go-to guy behind Ayton, giving them a reliable piece in the frontcourt to give them some closure when their starting center needs a breather. While the Suns cannot offer Theis the best deal among potentially interested teams, with one well-known suitor reportedly gearing up to go after him being the Charlotte Hornets, they should still throw their name into the mix.
