Minnesota Timberwolves point guard target No. 1: Kemba Walker, OKC Thunder

The insanity that is the NBA offseason has already begun, and we’ve only just reached the Conference Finals. Kemba Walker has already been traded from the Boston Celtics to the OKC Thunder in exchange for Al Horford and other assets. By no means does that mean he’ll be staying there next season.

The Thunder have seemingly no direction for the future. One of, if not the, least talented rosters in the NBA has no need for a star-level point guard because the team won’t be competing. The Minnesota Timberwolves are one of the teams that should be calling Sam Presti and seeing what can be done to acquire Walker. His value isn’t very high so the team should theoretically be able to keep D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards should this trade go down.

Throwing younger assets to a team that will be rebuilding for years to come should be enough to entice OKC. Running a lineup of Walker, Russell, Edwards, McDaniels/Vanderbilt, and Towns would be enough to actually compete for a playoff spot in the stacked Western Conference.

The T-Wolves absolutely have the assets to pull off a trade for Walker and he may be the missing piece to launch them firmly into contention.
