Rumors have been swirling around the Minnesota Timberwolves for a little while regarding their superstar center, Karl-Anthony Towns. With a majority of them being KAT as the trade piece, what if the Timberwolves kept Towns and pursued a “star” running mate to run point?

The Timberwolves are realistically one star or superstar caliber point guard away from being a playoff team and a championship contender in the Western Conference. The player will come, of course, by sacrificing some valuable assets but the main goal is finding a point guard to pair with KAT.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in the rumor mill quite a bit surrounding the trade market. Here are four potential point guards they could pursue.

The ideal scenario is keeping Anthony Edwards. D’Angelo Russell still has value and is a great pure scorer that really hasn’t found success in Minnesota. He will most likely be the guy that will be traded since he really has not panned out as everybody hoped.

While these options may not seem like the best of the best, keep in mind that there’s very little to work with. These players are ones that could be available for trade during the offseason but, of course, they might not be. The goal of this is, obviously, to continue to build around Karl-Anthony Towns and get him a true superstar/star level point guard to help run the floor and lead the team to success. All of these players would be available through trades instead of free agency.
