Charlotte Hornets goal No. 2: Get to the line more

The Hornets only attempt 20.9 free throw attempts per game which is 26th in the league. They make only 15.8 per game which is also 26th in the league. This means they make their free throws at 75.7 percent which is only 24th in the league.

More from Charlotte Hornets

The biggest problem is that the Hornets are a jump-shooting team. They attack the paint in transition and also when they get into the mid-range. Attacking the hoop in the half-court set is not high on their priority list.

The Hornets are 23rd in the league for shots inside the arc, only taking 50.8 per game. With the league going to a perimeter game, defenses have gotten better at not fouling the jump shooter. If the Hornets want to improve their standings for next season, they need to improve their ability to draw a foul.

The problem is that if the Hornets do not start drawing more fouls, they are not going to impact the rotations of the opposition team. It is not easy to win a seven-game series against better teams. Therefore it is crucial that a team like the Hornets do something different to improve their chances.
