2. Develop a consistent second option.

In the remaining time left in the season, the Pistons need to continue to develop a consistent second option to Grant. He is averaging 22.5 points per game which leads the team by a long way. The second-highest active scorer behind Grant is Josh Jackson with 13.7 points per game.

The Pistons had a true second option in Rose but, as mentioned earlier, he was traded to the Knicks earlier this season. The Pistons have several good future pieces, but they are a long way off being NBA star level.

Joseph has been solid for the Pistons but he is another of the rotation pieces who have reached their ceiling. The only player on the roster who could fit the bill is Jackson, who is in his fourth season and has shown the potential to be a good second option.

If Detroit can continue to develop that, Jackson is almost a lock to sign on next season when his rookie deal expires. The more he grows as a second option this season will benefit the Pistons in years to come, particularly if they can lure some quality players to the team in the offseason.
