#3: Rajon Rondo

The first player that the Boston Celtics should have traded for at the deadline is Rajon Rondo.

It was clear that it did not take much to trade for Rondo this deadline considering the package that the LA Clippers sent to the Atlanta Hawks to add him to the roster.

It may have simply cost the team Jeff Teague and one or two second-round picks and there could have been a Rondo reunion in Boston.

As any Celtics fan knows that followed the team during their Big 3 era, Rondo would be a perfect player for this roster.

From the outside looking in, it appears that the team is lost right now and needs someone to set them on the right path. That player would be Rondo.

During his time on the Los Angeles Lakers, it was highlighted how he excelled with not only the young players but fellow veterans as well.

One prime example of this is when he pulled LeBron James aside and set him straight. According to Jackie McMullan from ESPN:

"“When guys are making the same mistakes over and over and over, it’s hard to bite your tongue,” Rondo says, “but I tried to get [James] to focus on his body language. “Those young guys were looking at everything he did. If they missed four shots in a row and LeBron was making a face, it was crushing to them. He was their Michael Jordan. They didn’t want to let him down. But if LeBron said one thing positive to Brandon Ingram or Kyle Kuzma, they immediately were back to their old selves”."

This is something the Celtics desperately need to bounce back this season.

Along with his leadership qualities, Rondo would be the perfect point guard to come off of the bench for the Celtics.

He has never been a shoot-first player and is one of the best playmakers of this generation.

With scorers like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown on the roster, Rondo would not be taking away from their shots and if anything would be the perfect player to set them up with open looks.

This move would have been perfect on many levels and the Celtics missed the mark by not adding him to the roster.
