What’s in it for the Houston Rockets?

Both Oladipo and Tucker are set to become free agents after this season is concluded. If this first month of basketball has been any indicator of what’s next to come, the Houston Rockets will not be a playoff team this year.

For these two aging, yet still capable, core pieces, the Rockets can make the best out of a sticky situation. By trading them away for future assets and/or expiring contracts with less value, they take the correct steps towards rebuilding, a process that probably won’t take too long for them.

From the initial looks of it, Oladipo does not want to be a part of this rebuilding process long-term. He is approaching the latter stages of his prime and can still be a valuable member of a title-challenging team.

His playstyle of not needing the ball as much as other stars should attract some of the bigger fishes in the pond. Oladipo has not proved to be a valid first-option on a top-tier team, though could be the perfect Robin to any franchise’s Batman.

At this very moment, both of these versatile players appear to be looking for a way out of Houston. Whether this will be in free agency or via trade even sooner is what we all wait patiently to find out.

Unfortunately for the Rockets, none of them can currently flaunt the same kind of pizzazz they once used to, meaning their respective trade values are not sky-high. Regardless of that, the Rockets should capitalize on their talent and try to salvage any young players and draft picks.
