As we move on to week four of the NBA season, the shadow of the pandemic that is hanging over the season was felt more than ever.

After calls for more postponements (or a potential pause of the season) rang out last week amid increasing contact tracing issues, this week the NBA faced their greatest COVID issues since leaving the bubble in Orlando. Every day but Thursday (which only had five games) saw at least one contest postponed for a total of 10. Games next week have already been put on hold. The NBA is powering through at this point but changes needed to be made.

Adjustments were announced regarding the health and safety protocols and while some of them were mocked (NO HANDSHAKES) plenty of good ideas have been implemented. The league is weighing the option of adding an additional two-way roster spot to teams to make more players available to teams in need.

Adapting on the fly is never simple, least of all in the midst of an international pandemic. Somehow, that was not the most talked-about change of the week.

After weeks of trade demands, no-shows and maskless events James Harden has been traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Yes, the same Brooklyn Nets who saw Kyrie Irving fined for leaving the team for a sabbatical only to be videotaped maskless at a birthday party. This is the league now and drama never ceases to pop up. Beyond that, there has been plenty of great (and not so great) basketball.
