1. The Orlando Magic lack point guard depth

Unfortunately, the Orlando Magic recently lost their starting point guard when Markelle Fultz tore his ACL while driving to the basket during a contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Fultz’s devastating injury was diagnosed as season-ending, which completely halted Orlando’s momentum to its fast start of the season.

The Magic have now lost five straight since Fultz went down after starting the season 6-2. Obviously, the loss of Fultz was a brutal blow to the team, but the former No. 1 overall pick is still just 22 years old with a bright future ahead of him if he can successfully pull through the rehab process. The long-term outlook for Orlando is still strong.

At the time being though, the Magic need to resolve its conflicts. They’ve filed for a $6.1 million Disabled Player Exception on Fultz and already have a $3.7 million exception due to the injury of Jonathan Isaac, which will help, but they should really act fast on strengthening their backcourt.

The only remaining point guards on the roster right now include rookie Cole Anthony and two-way player Jordan Bone. That isn’t ideal for a team that’s chasing a playoff spot.

Clearly, Orlando needs depth at the point guard position, and free-agent guard Isaiah Thomas would be a more than reasonable choice to help fill that void.
