Pursue: Trade for Chris Paul

There comes a caveat with the dictate not to push for win-now moves. That caveat is that if you can get Chris Paul for a bargain, you should do so. Unfortunately, OKC Thunder general manager Sam Presti doesn’t give an inch when it comes to deal-making and trying to win a deal with Presti is something that got the Houston Rockets into the dire situation they currently find themselves in.

Getting a great deal isn’t likely, considering the Thunder could just hold onto him for another year along with their massive and historic stockpile of assets and then continue to win more than they should, thanks to his presence. But if the Thunder and Knicks can strike a balance and find something fair and equitable for both parties, this could be something that Leon Rose can consider a signature deal for him early in his tenure in New York.

It’s fine if nothing comes of this, after all the Knicks have plenty of directions they can go in with their space and draft assets, but it’s absolutely worth investigating as the NBA’s transaction window opens next week.
