NBA Draft basketball cards: A 1-of-1 James Wiseman card is up for sale

A highly sought-after James Wiseman Panini Contenders: Draft Pick card has hit the market
The first basketball cards of the 2020 NBA Draft class have been delivered to collectors and are starting to hit the aftermarket. With the starting price yet to be set on many of these prospects, we’re getting first looks at these unpacked cards and what sellers are trying to get for them.
We first saw some crazy prices associated with LaMelo Ball’s first rookie card, which has a really unique collector’s element to it.
Now, we’re starting to see the asking price on some of the other rookies, including a James Wiseman card which was first listed on October 29.
A 1-of-1 James Wiseman rookie card — Contenders Draft Ticket has been listed
A 1-of-1 James Wiseman card was listed on eBay and the asking price is $4,999, but this seller is of course accepting offers. This is no doubt a really exciting card, as any 1-of-1 is.
What’s better, too, is this card could be an instant investment with no overhead cost in getting it PSA-graded. Since it’s a 1-of-1 it doesn’t necessarily need to be graded since the inherent rarity is already clear.
Now, while this is a 1-of-1, there are two variations to this card, meaning there are two very similar cards in circulation.
James Wiseman rookie cards: Here’s what’s available on eBay right now
This card is extremely similar to the prospect ticket, the main differences in them are the picture of Wiseman and of course the rarity. The Prospect Ticket base is unnumbered, but still an autographed card. The premium variations like the Blue Shimmer and Gold Vinyl will have incredible value given that those are also low print runs (Gold Vinyl is 1-of-1). For instance, a Silver Refractor seller is currently looking for about $300.
If you’re high on Wiseman and his talent potential, it might be worth collecting. But keep in mind this is just the first product of the year and we still don’t have any Wiseman cards with him in his first NBA jersey, and we only saw three games of action from him at Memphis.
Always good collecting advice — Set a hard budget and collect what you like!
