3. Christian Wood

Christian Wood is a fairly young player that has struggled to find a home during these early stages of his career. Having already played for 5 different teams in just 4 seasons, he might be ready for yet another change to his address.

During the 2019-20 NBA Season, he averaged 13.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in just 21.4 rebounds per game. His percentages, though, are what stands out the most about his game. His efficiency from the field is off the charts at 56.7 percent, while shooting an incredible 38.6 percent from 3-point range. All that from a 6’10” big man.

Wood will be a free agent in the upcoming offseason and the New York Knicks should seriously consider pursuing him. The 25-year-old will be looking at a very reasonable contract in the single digits and the Knicks can quite easily afford to give him a chance.

Coach Thibodeau has pointed out that defense and 3-point shooting are his top priorities heading into the team’s training camps. He’s already got Mitchell Robinson doing shooting drills, an experiment that would be scary if proven successful.

Under Thibs, Christian Wood can slide right into the rotation as the backup power forward, though the starting spot is not entirely out of the picture. His immense shooting and defending abilities fit into Thibodeau’s schematic perfectly, leaving Julius Randle as the odd man out.
