Chicago Bulls: 5 roster moves they must make this offseason
1. Draft well
Despite having the seventh-worst record last season the Bulls managed to move up to the fourth pick in the 2020 NBA draft. However, it is likely they are going to take a gamble on a young overseas player, basing their pick on potential.
Deni Avdija, a 6’9″ combo wing plays with the skills of a guard, but whose length and athleticism is going to cause issues for opposition defenders. He is an aggressive playmaker who has a good feel for the game.
He possesses all the skills required to become a point forward and has starred in every major national tournament that he has played. He still has to develop in a professional sense, only playing limited minutes with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
His skill level against long athletic players could come into question, but he has the fundamentals down in most areas of the game. An NBA team is going to be able to harness this talent and develop it over the period of his rookie contract.
The Bulls would do well this season to see what they have in Avdija. With the exception of LaVine, most of their experienced players are off contract or not guaranteed after the 2020-21 season. They have the chance to mold the roster in a totally differently if he works out.
